The National Weather Service (NWS) pushes out alerts to an Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) to sound alarms and warnings during major weather events. The critical service alerts are then pushed to commercial wireless carriers and broadcast to televisions and cell phones across the nation.
