When a child has reduced muscle tone, they are often referred to as a “soft” or “floppy” child. This is usually a variation of normal. However, be sure to consult your pediatrician if your child is not thriving. Soft children feel softer in their muscles and joints compared to other children. You may notice they don’t assist as much when being lifted, making them feel heavier.
