Tropical Cyclone Alfred has weakened to a category 3 system overnight which saw the well-defined eye disappear. At 5am Saturday morning AEST Alfred was sitting approximately 600km east-north-east of Rockhampton. While there are no weather stations near the centre of Alfred, it's estimated that sustained winds are currently around 155km/hr around the core, with gusts as high as 220km/hr.
