Smoke from ongoing wildfires across Canada continued to drift into parts of the United States on Wednesday, causing hazy skies and triggering air quality alerts in multiple states across the upper Midwest and Northeast.

Red flag warnings remain in place for parts of Nevada, Utah, Colorado and Wyoming due to very dry conditions, low humidity and gusty winds.

There were 8 new fires reported across the U.S. on Wednesday, as crews work to manage 42 uncontained large fires covering 576,316 acres.
