President-elect Donald Trump is poised to become commander in chief again, this time as a convicted felon but one who has been able to sidestep sentences in three of the four criminal cases against him.

The criminal case brought against Trump by Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg began trial proceedings last April. After juggling courtroom visits in multiple legal cases with campaign rallies, Trump was found guilty on all 34 counts against him by a New York jury on May 30, 2024.

Prosecutors on Thursday urged the Supreme Court to allow Donald Trump’s sentencing in his New York hush money case to go ahead as scheduled on Friday morning. Emphasizing that Trump’s conviction rests on conduct for which he is not entitled to immunity,
