He then added a pair of power-play helpers on Matthew Tkachuk goals in the third period, notching the first assist on tallies that made it 3-1 and 6-1. Werenski also finished plus-2 and played a team-high 21:45.

Team USA caught fire during the third period of Thursday's 4-Nations Face-Off clash against Finland. Heading into the final period up 2–1, the United States doubled its tally with a pair of rapid fire goals from Matthew Tkachuk and Jake Guentzel just 11 seconds apart.

Tkachuk and his brother Brady put on a dominant performance in their tournament opener against Team Finland, a game the Americans cruised to a 6-1 victory. Team USA and the Finns played a tight game through 40 minutes, but three early goals during the final frame blew the game open for the U.S.
