Tampa Bay earned a 3-0 lead at AMALIE Arena to take down the NHL’s best team through the first month of the season on Thursday, defeating the Winnipeg Jets 4-1. Jake Guentzel scored the game’s lone goal in the first period, and the home team built on the lead thanks to tallies by Brandon Hagel and Anthony Cirelli.

While speaking to reporters, head coach Jon Cooper revealed that the Lightning will use a unique strategy against the Jets. Instead of dressing 12 forwards and six defensemen, the Lightning will sport seven defensemen and 11 forwards aginst Winnipeg.

The Tampa Bay Lightning will be without one of their top players against the Winnipeg Jets. While speaking to reporters, including Gabby Shirley, Lightning head coach Jon Cooper shared that Brayden Point will not be in the lineup.
