Málaga, Spain - November 13, 2024 The new DANA (isolated depression at high levels) brought heavy rainfall to Malaga, leading to flash flooding on Wednesday, November 13. Parts of Malaga and Tarragona regions have been placed under red alert.

Schools will be closed on Wednesay after the national weather agency placed parts of Valencia on red alert on Wednesday night, as well as Catalonia in the northeast and Malaga in the southeast.

Spain’s weather forecaster issued red alerts for extreme rain, two weeks after deadly floods killed more than 220 people in the coastal region of Valencia.

Heavy rainfall continues to cause significant disruptions in Spain on Thursday, as the country experiences its second powerful storm system in two weeks. On Wednesday, the storm system caused widespread flooding, particularly around Malaga.

Spain's national weather agency had put parts of the eastern Valencia region under the highest alert level for rain on Wednesday, two weeks after floods killed more than 200 people there.
