A local Peruvian soccer match was called off due to weather, but as players left the field, lighting struck, killing one man and wounding five others.

A Peruvian soccer player was killed when he was struck by lightning that had just caused a delay in his team’s match. The man, identified by multiple local media accounts as 39-year-old José Hugo de la Cruz Meza,

TMZ reports that in the midst of a soccer match on Sunday (Nov. 3) between the Juventud Bellavista and Familia Chocca at Coto Coto stadium in the Peruvian city of Huancayo, Jose Hugo de la Cruz Meza was struck by lightning and killed immediately.
