In the Eagles locker room after practice, Saquon Barkley barely had time to take a breath. Hastily walking toward his space and straightening up his locker stall, the Eagles running back explained that he didn’t have much time to stop and field questions.

Saquon Barkley, who had 159 rushing yards against Jacksonville, became just the third Eagle to run for 100-plus yards in three consecutive weeks. Hadn’t happened since Brian Westbrook did it in 2006, and prior to that, it was Wilbert Montgomery in 1978, ’79 and ’81.

Barkley’s efficiency supports an offensive system whose running game aims to shape the defense favorably to its will. Jalen Hurts leaped untouched into the end zone on an 18-yard touchdown run on a zone-read keeper with Kenneth Gainwell that gave the Eagles their initial three-score lead in the third quarter.
