Samsung is reportedly packing a new 12nm process version of its LPDDR5X RAM, courtesy of Micron, into the Galaxy S25 series. A Korean report claims this swap in process is due to the OEM running into "heat generation" issues with the 13nm process.

As the Galaxy S25 series launch date draws closer, leaks are revealing more details about its tech specs and features. We already know that the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip will power all models globally.

The new RAM, like the original Samsung wanted to use, is built on the LPDDR5X standard, the latest for mobile RAM. But by moving to the smaller 12nm process, the RAM should run cooler and need less power than the 13nm version. So Samsung's loss is the user's gain.
