A southeast Ohio man couldn’t believe it after he won $2 million while playing a scratch-off game from the Ohio Lottery.
Ohio ranks fourth nationwide for lottery and sweepstakes scams, with victims losing more than $35 million since 2020, according to a study by Vegas Insider.
Although he has won smaller prizes in the past, he said he never thought he would win something this big. But, using a “top-secret family formula for picking his numbers based on notes tracking previous wins” helped lead him to the huge win, lottery officials said.

Ohio Lottery ticket wins $25K per year ‘for life’
According to lottery documents, a Lucky For Life sold ahead of the Sunday, oct. 26 drawing matched five out of five numbers to win the game’s second-tier prize of $25,000 a year for life, or a one-time payment of $390,000. Lottery officials said the winning ticket was purchased at Etna Carryout in Pataskala, Ohio.
