Kia’s spacious three-row EV9 got a rugged facelift for SEMA, transforming into a new adventure-themed concept aptly named ADVNTR. Appearing alongside it is the WKNDR concept, based on Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) modular concept that was first revealed at CES earlier this year.

Kia unveiled two adventurous concepts at SEMA, the EV9 ADVNTR and the PV5 WKNDR. Both look excellent, but the adventure version of the PV5 van looks like a perfect product for modern America, filling a void never quite covered by more pedestrian commercial vans like the Ford Transit Connect.

Two concepts take the stage at Kia's booth at SEMA and prompt the possibilities with EVs as they become more common.

The electric three-row SUV gets unique front and rear styling, a three-inch lift, and reinforced rocker panels that improve its off-road capability.

Kia just debuted a ruggedized three-row EV SUV based on a production vehicle and a far-from-production EV adventure van concept at the annual SEMA Show.

Kia gave the PV5 a lift along with off-road tires to create the ultimate family escape vehicle. It has a modular interior that Kia likens to a Swiss Army Knife on wheels. It includes a special “Gear Head” storage system that features an off-board, sheltered storage area for when the vehicle is stationary.

Alongside the PV5 WKNDR is a similar concept: the Kia EV9 ADVNTR. Based on the Ev9, which recently made its Philippine debut, the ADVNTR is reinforced with stronger suspension, off-road tires, rocker panels, and a mounted tent for the next overland trip.

The team at Kia Design Center America has given the EV9 new front and rear fascias for a more rugged look, plus reinforced rocker panels for "increased capability and character", and a 3.0-inch (76.2mm) suspension lift over the standard EV9.

But the other is the PV5 WKNDR, a rugged off-road camper based on a forthcoming Kia electric van platform. The EV9 ADVNTR makes good use of the existing EV9's angular design, with new sections filled in with protective cladding.
