Groups of students from five of the district’s high schools then met at a Chicken Express parking lot on Timberland Boulevard near Timber Creek High School at 10:30 a.m., rallying for their right to have a say in the district’s future.

Even though the proposal remains vague, it has caused damage. Superintendent Tracy Johnson, whom the board promoted to that position in December 2023, resigned abruptly. One father has filed suit against the board, alleging it violated state open meeting laws. Based on their public comments, many district parents feel blindsided and betrayed.
