Kayla McBride scored 18 points and DiJonai Carrington added 15 to help the Minnesota Lynx beat the New York Liberty 83-71 on Sunday. The teams will meet three times over the next nine days with New York having back-to-back games on the west coast before heading to Minnesota to play Saturday.

Tari Phillips helped the Liberty reach the WNBA Finals twice in her five seasons with them, from 2000-04, and was an All-Star for the first four. The 55-year-old former forward/center is second in rebounds, fifth in steals and ninth in points on the Liberty’s all-time lists.
