A man was fatally shot near Highway 288 in south Houston Monday morning, according to a post from the Houston Police Department. An HPD spokesperson said police detained a man who was running down the freeway near where the shooting happened on the 5700 block of South Freeway.

Around 4:30 a.m., the Huntsville Police Department said officers responded to a shots fired call on Lakeview Drive. The department said when officers arrived, there was a party going on. HPD said officers found a man with a gunshot wound when they arrived on the scene. The man was pronounced dead on the scene.
