Virgil van Dijk and Frenkie de Jong have withdrawn from the Netherlands squad ahead of Tuesday night's UEFA Nations League clash with Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For both Frenkie and Virgil it is better for them to leave the training camp at this moment. That decision was taken on medical grounds, with of course the interest of the players coming first,” read a club statement.

Both Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong and Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk will miss the upcoming Nations League match against Bosnia.

Both De Jong and Van Dijk played in Saturday’s 4-0 win over Hungary in Amsterdam which secured second place in the group for the Dutch and progress to the Nations League quarterfinals in March.

The return of midfielder Frenkie de Jong for the first time in 14 months has come as a major boost for the Netherlands and given coach Ronald Koeman better options after qualifying for the Nations League quarter-finals.
