Police across New England are looking for a person who they think bought the guns that were used in a shootout last week that killed a U.S. Border Patrol agent in Vermont.

The suspected killers of U.S. Border Patrol agent David Maland were reportedly part of a vegan, "anarchist" cult whose members have been linked to a series of crimes.

Authorities said she fired at agents during a traffic stop in northern Vermont, triggering a shootout that also resulted in the death of her companion, Felix Bauckholt.

A Washington state woman was ordered held without bail Thursday in connection with the death of a U.S. Border Patrol agent in a case that has grown to encompass killings in multiple states.
