The landing spots for a few college football teams in the preseason AP Top 25 are interesting to say the least

Texas is No. 1 in the Associated Press preseason Top 25 for the first time. The Longhorns narrowly edged out Penn State in the closest preseason vote since 1998.

For the first time, Texas will open a college football season ranked No. 1, AP wrote. AP numbers show that the following teams received first-place votes: Texas (25), Penn State (23), Ohio State (11), Clemson (4), Georgia (1) and Oregon (1).
