An intense winter storm system will roll through the St. Louis region this weekend. A mix of heavy snow and ice is expected across the entire St. Louis metro from Saturday evening to Monday morning, primarily on Sunday.

A powerful winter storm will sweep through the St. Louis region on Sunday, bringing a mix of snow, sleet and ice to close out the weekend.

Comptroller Darlene Green said she'd approve an emergency expenditure to get contractors to clear the streets before the city has its next deep freeze temperatures.

Emergency contracts have been approved to pay local contractors to assist with the city's efforts to treat road conditions after the heavy snowfall on the City of St. Louis last week.
