Black plastics from electronic devices may be leaching toxic flame retardants into our food and homes, a new study has found.

Black-colored plastic used in kitchen utensils, takeout containers and children’s toys may contain potentially cancerous chemicals due to mistakes in recycling practices, a new study finds.

The study, published in the journal Chemosphere, detected high levels of toxic flame retardants in black-colored plastic, including kitchen utensils, food containers, toys, and trays used to hold grocery meat and produce.
