Ogunbowale was even more impressive. The four-time All-Star made WNBA history by registering a 15-point, 10-assist double-double in the first half. Ogunbowale finished with 20 points, a career-high 14 assists, a steal and two triples.
The Dallas Wings pulled off a surprise win Monday night, taking down the defending WNBA champions, the New York Liberty, 92–82. Leading the way was Arike Ogunbowale, who delivered a career-defining performance that rewrote the franchise record books.
Rookie Paige Bueckers and Arike Ogunbowale put up a game-high 20 points apiece, with Ogunbowale also dishing out a career-high and franchise record-tying 14 assists. The Wings made just one field goal in the final quarter but were able to stave off a Breanna Stewart-less Liberty side to notch their eighth win on the year.
One of the big-name spectators who was in attendance for Monday’s clash was UConn Huskies guard Azzi Fudd, who is rumored to be the girlfriend of Wings rookie Paige Bueckers. Fudd, who was teammates with Bueckers at Connecticut for four years, made her feelings for the latter abundantly clear with a statement shirt for Monday’s game.
Paige Bueckers becomes the only WNBA player this season to rank top 10 in points, assists, and steals, making history in her rookie year.
