A Russian oil refinery in the southern Volgograd region caught fire after being hit by debris from a Ukrainian drone attack. Regional Governor Andrei Bocharov confirmed the overnight attack, saying on Friday that the blaze was “promptly extinguished” and one injured worker was hospitalised.

"This refinery is one of the 10 largest oil refineries in Russia in terms of design capacity and is involved in supplying the Russian occupatying army," the General Staff said in a statement.

Units of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces and the Ukrainian Defense Ministry's Main Intelligence Directorate, in coordination with other Ukrainian Defense Forces formations, struck LLC Lukoil-Volgogradnaftopererabotka in Russia's Volgograd region on the night of January 31.

Ukrainian drones hit a Russian oil refinery in the city of Ryazan overnight, causing a fire and damaging equipment at one of Russia's biggest refineries, four industry sources told Reuters on Friday.
