Hawks’ primary prey are small rodents, birds, squirrels and small animals (such as rabbits), but hawks may infrequently attack dogs up to 12 pounds in weight and cats.

Cooper's hawks are small hawks with salmon breasts, gray backs, and gray- and black-barred tails. Mannan and his team have been studying their population in Tucson since 1994.
