The Texans' divisional round opponent is the reigning Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, who beat them 27-19 in Week 16. The Chiefs also had a shaky regular-season but there was a major difference between Kansas City and Houston: Patrick Mahomes and company found a way to win even when they played poorly.

Kansas City had the week off having secured the bye with its 15-2 regular season record. For the fifth time in the last seven years, the AFC playoffs run through Arrowhead. Houston and Kansas City met in Week 16, with the Chiefs winning, 27-19.
