Topping the leaderboard after the second round was a relaxed Shane Lowry, who fired a five-under-par 67 to open up a two-shot lead at the halfway stage. The 37-year-old Irishman reeled off six birdies and one bogey to head into the weekend at the Bay Hill Club & Lodge on eight under through 36 holes.

Clark finished the second round shooting one under par, and he found himself mired in controversy when he gave himself relief on the third hole when his ball landed in a pitch mark on the fairway. Fans questioned whether this was allowed, as Clark would not be allowed free relief if his ball landed in another player's pitch mark.
