But he's not oblivious to the fact that altering Social Security comes with potentially negative ramifications. During his presidential campaign, Donald Trump signaled support for ending the decades-long practice of taxing Social Security benefits on several occasions. "Seniors should not pay tax on Social Security," Trump asserted on his social media platform in July. He then repeated the proposal in August during an interview with Fox.

The second round of January’s Social Security payments will be distributed tomorrow, with retirees who began benefits at age 70 receiving up to $5,108. The Social Security Administration organizes payments in three rounds each month based on beneficiaries’ birth dates.
