Microsoft has finally revealed its highly-anticipated handheld console, years after it was first rumoured. The ROG Xbox Ally will let gamers access their Game Pass subscription library on-the-go, in effect meaning members will start off with hundreds of games.

This isn’t quite what we expected to see last year, but the ROG Xbox Ally still marks a new chapter in the rapidly developing “handheld war.”

Microsoft has yet to reveal pricing for the systems, which run on Windows 11 and also include access to Steam, GOG and Ubisoft Connect.

The ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X are official and are coming this holiday season. Announced at Sunday’s Xbox Games Showcase 2025, this handheld device promises the “freedom of Windows” and the “power of Xbox,” and you’ll be able to stream titles directly from the cloud as well as download select games for offline play.

A Bethesda game is free for some on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S, and Xbox Series X, but only for a limited time.
