A state ballot measure was the first of its kind in the United States, but labor advocates worry it could lock Uber and Lyft drivers out of full-time employment status.

Passage of the state ballot measure gives about 70,000 ride-share drivers the right to organize and engage in collective bargaining, which is not guaranteed to them under federal law.

Uber and Lyft drivers may have gotten into the gig for the mobility and flexibility. But SouthCoast drivers say they may need job protections.
