Now, according to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, there are two candidates locked in what's shaping up to be a "two-man race" for the job: Don Davis, and former Cleveland Browns center—and controversial union figure—JC Tretter.

Apparently ex-NFLPA head Lloyd Howell Jr.’s actions were somewhat expected for someone in his position, according to Pat McAfee.
Via Mark Maske of the Washington Post, the NFLPA board of player representatives will meet on Friday night to discuss the union's next steps following Thursday night's sudden and surprising resignation of executive director Lloyd Howell.
The answer is obvious: Domonique Foxworth. For starters, Foxworth has done the job before. From 2012 to 2014, he served as NFLPA President, helping the union navigate the turbulent aftermath of the 2011 lockout and CBA negotiations.
While the grievance decision had not been reported publicly before Thursday, the league says it informed teams at its March league meeting.
