The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken major action in the state ahead of the assembly elections in Maharashtra. The party has expelled 40 workers/leaders from 37 different assembly constituencies on charges of indiscipline.

With just a day left for the Maharashtra Assembly Elections, a controversy erupted in the State’s political circles as the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi (BVA) accused BJP National General Secretary Vinod Tawde of distributing cash to party workers at a hotel near Mumbai.

BVA workers led by MLA Kshitij Thakur disrupted a BJP meeting alleging cash distribution by BJP leader Vinod Tawde. Tawde refuted the claims, urging an inquiry by the Election Commission. The incident has fueled controversy ahead of the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

The BJP General Secretary Vinod Tawde was accused of arriving with Rs.5 crore meant for distribution to the party's Nalasopara constituency candidate, Rajan Naik.

Vinod Tawde has denied the accusations despite a video going viral of BVA workers storming into a hotel in Nalasopara during a meeting between the BJP leader and Rajan Naik, the BJP candidate from the Assembly seat.

Senior BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar ridiculed the accusations, stating, “Vinod Tawde is a national general secretary. Is he going to distribute money at ward levels? Such claims are absurd.”

Just a day before the Maharashtra Assembly goes to polls, tensions flared in Virar as activists from the Bahujan Vikas Aghadi and BJP clashed in the presence of BJP leader Vinod Tawde.
