A multi-state E. coli outbreak has been linked to recalled organic whole carrots and baby carrots sold under several brands like Trader Joe’s, 365 and more.

A recall of organic, bagged whole and baby carrots sold at Trader Joe's, Publix, Wegmans and other retailers around the country has been linked to an E. coli outbreak, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. E. coli is a bacteria that can cause serious illness when consumed by certain populations.

The FDA said 39 people have been sickened by the outbreak, which has led to one death. The recalled carrots were available for purchase nationwide.

At least 39 people have reported illnesses related to eating the recalled carrots -- including in Michigan -- and the death of one person has been linked to the outbreak.
