The last time Charlotte saw measurable snow, at least one-tenth of an inch, was in 2022. Now, there is a winter storm watch for the area. Snow, along with ice and the power grid, are concerns for Duke Energy. While they’re preparing to respond, they want to make sure residents will be able to as well.

The City of Greensboro is encouraging residents in several East Greensboro neighborhoods to prepare for a temporary power outage. On Thursday, Duke Energy will suspend power from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. to repair damage to equipment at the substation that serves the Liberty Hill community ahead of Friday’s forecasted snowfall,

Some residents will find it much colder, though, as Duke Energy is planning a temporary outage. East Greensboro residents in the Kings Forest, Woodmere Park, Nealtown Farms, and neighborhoods along Franklin Blvd. and White Street should anticipate power to be out from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.
