The Fort Myers-Sanibel area is known for its glorious winter weather, with highs often hovering in the 70s and lows in the 50s. But two cold fronts are coming.
Sunday: Partly sunny and windy, with a high of 75 and low of 39 degrees.
"The coldest will be the morning of Dec. 31," said Stephen Shiveley, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Ruskin, the office that covers Fort Myers, Sanibel and Cape Coral. "It will be in the low-to mid-40s for a low, and the average is 55 degrees. So, we're looking at 10 to 15 degrees cooler than average."
The potential snowfall would not be like the dump of record-breaking white stuff that hit the panhandle on Jan. 21, 2025 where up to 10 inches fell.
Lee County agencies are helping the homeless during a cold weather snap this week with shelters and supplies. The county’s coordinated entry phone line is always available to connect individuals to services and resources. Call 239-533-7996 or visit www.leegov.com/dhs.
