South Africa has the ability to host a summer Olympic Games following the success of this year's soccer World Cup, International Olympic Committee (IOC) president Jacques Rogge said on Monday.

The South African Sports Confederation and Olympic Committee (Sascoc) has formally declared interest in hosting the 2036 Olympic Games. But does South Africa need it?

Besides India and South Africa, "double digit" number of countries are interested in hosting the 2036 extravaganza. As per the IOC, there is interest from four continents in hosting the Olympic Games.
