Texas Longhorns guard Jordan Pope and head coach Rodney Terry met with the media after the win over the Oklahoma Sooners.

The No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners proved their prowess today at the Sprouts Farmers Market Collegiate Quad, knocking off title contenders No. 2 LSU, No. 4 Utah, and No. 6 California.

But the Longhorns — specifically, guard Jordan Pope — refused to give up the lead. Pope, a 6-foot-2 junior who transferred to Texas from Oregon State in the offseason, scored 19 of his team-high 27 points in the second half.

The Texas Longhorns continue to dominate the Red River Rivalry on the hardwood, though their latest victory over the Oklahoma Sooners hardly came without thrills that head coach Rodney Terry would love to avoid.

The Sooners stormed back in the second half, cutting the lead from 23 points all the way down to three points, but fell short in the closing minutes.

Jordan Pope scored 27 points as Texas built a big lead and then held off a frenetic rally on the Sooners' home court.

Texas and Oklahoma faced each other on the hardwood in the SEC for the first time this week. Both teams went into the matchup without a conference win and the Longhorns came onto the Sooners quite fast,
