A tropical depression in the western Caribbean Sea is expected to intensify into Tropical Storm Sara and has the potential to take a turn toward Florida by the middle of next week, forecasters said.

A tropical storm warning has been issued for the lower and middle Florida Keys from Key West to west of the Channel 5 Bridge, according to the latest advisory from the National Hurricane Center.

Hurricane Rafael made landfall in western Cuba Wednesday afternoon after it became a Category 3 hurricane earlier in the day.

"There is high confidence that human-caused climate change has already increased the intensity of rainfall in the storms," an expert told Newsweek.
