Voters head to the polls on Nov. 4 in a special election for U.S. House District 18, a Houston City Council race, 17 Texas amendments, and more.

With a congressional race now headed to a runoff and a series of upsets dealt to Republicans nationwide, here are five takeaways from the November 2025 elections.

The Harris County Clerk’s Office announced that voters have broken the record for the highest voter turnout the county has seen on an odd-year Election Day.

Be sure you are in line by closing time. If you’re entering the line before 7 p.m., you’ll be allowed to vote even if you enter the ballot booth after 7 p.m.

Texans will head to the polls Tuesday to vote on state constitutional amendments and local elections. Here’s where to cast your ballot in Harris County.

That’s nearly 607,000 less votes compared to the 2024 general election early voting numbers, where Harris County voters cast more than 686,500 ballot votes. The county’s voter registration department found that more than 2.5 million people are registered voters in the county.

The race will go to a Dec. 13 runoff between lawyer Alejandra Salinas and lobbyist Dwight Boykins. Early voting begins Dec. 1.

Christian Menefee, the county attorney of Harris County, and attorney Amanda Edwards advanced to the runoff, NBC News projects.
