Two earthquakes struck the Central Coast less than 10 minutes apart on Thanksgiving Day, according to officials.

USGS scientist Robert De Groot spoke to CBS News Bay Area about a recent earthquakes that have struck in and around the Bay Area, including two earthquakes that struck near Salinas and San Juan Bautista on Thanksgiving Day.

A series of earthquakes rattled California’s Bay Area near Gilroy on Wednesday, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. The largest was a magnitude 4.0 quake centered about 8 kilometers east of Gilroy, followed by a magnitude 3.6 quake southeast of the city and a magnitude 2.7 event to the east.
