The future of the Dallas Wings got a lot brighter as the franchise won the WNBA draft lottery on Sunday, and with it the chance to draft University of Connecticut star point guard Paige Bueckers with the first overall selection on April 14.

Luck wasn’t on the Washington Mystics’ side Sunday afternoon, when they stayed put with the No. 4 pick in the WNBA draft. They entered the lottery with the worst odds of the four contenders and didn’t get any help from the ping-pong balls.

The Chicago Sky will pick third in the 2025 WNBA Draft. The draft order was determined by Sunday’s draft lottery held in Bristol, Connecticut. The Dallas Wings were awarded with the No. 1 overall pick,

The Dallas Wings on Sunday won the No. 1 overall selection in the 2025 WNBA Draft and with that the right to select Connecticut guard Paige Bueckers, an early contender again to win the Naismith and Wooden Player of the Year awards.

The Los Angeles Sparks, who had the top chance at 44 percent to get the top choice, will pick second, followed by Chicago and Washington.

The Chicago Sky will have the No. 3 pick in a loaded 2025 WNBA draft after Sunday’s lottery results. The Sky will have a wealth of options — including Notre Dame’s Olivia Miles and Connecticut’s Azzi Fudd — to choose from as they aim to build out their backcourt to complement Kamilla Cardoso and Angel Reese.
