The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recalled 80,000 pounds of Costco butter that was missing information from its packaging regarding a key ingredient: milk.

The FDA recently recalled 79,200 pounds of Costco’s sweet cream butter because the label didn’t include “the contains milk statement.”

Costco was forced to recall nearly 80,000 pounds of Kirkland Signature butter because of an "undeclared allergen." It forgot to list "milk" on the label.

The retailing chain has recalled 80,000 pounds of butter because its packaging omitted an allergen warning. It follows a more dramatic packaging stumble from Mattel last week.

Save the addition of salt, spices and other add-ins for taste, butter is a single-ingredient food. So, it may come as a surprise that on October 11, the FDA recalled 80,000 pounds of Costco brand butter for containing its only ingredient: milk.

The recall includes Kirkland Signature unsalted sweet cream butter and Kirkland Signature salted sweet cream butter.

"Nobody better lay a finger on my butter" isn't a complete sentence, but Costco recalled 79,200 lbs. of the yellow gold recently for a relatively dumb reason.
