The shooting was preceded by a 90-minute standoff in which the suspect allegedly fired randomly from the backyard of a home before confronting the sheriff’s deputies and raising his gun, drawing their fire.

Deputies emphasized that there was no active danger to the community; however, they warned the public to avoid the 900 block of Leland St.

San Diego County Sheriff’s Office officials report that Deputies responded to a trespassing call with a suspect armed with a gun. After removing children from the residence where he was located, the suspect fired his gun several times and eventually walked out the front door and pointed the gun at deputies.
