The Office of Management and Budget Wednesday rescinded the memo calling for a sweeping pause on federal grants and loans after outcry over the damage it would cause to the many nonprofit groups and state and local agencies that depend on the funding,

The full extent of the order was not immediately clear, but the directive sent to government agencies on Monday threatened to paralyze a vast swath of federal programs.

The pause was set to begin Tuesday at 5 p.m., according to an Office of Management and Budget memo independently viewed by FedScoop.
