Election Day is over, but the implications of Tuesday's results will play out for years to come. Republicans had a big day statewide and nationally, while on the local level Franklin County Democrats are celebrating.

Unofficial election results are in for Sumner County, where a handful of local races were decided Nov. 5, including Sumner County Sheriff, Hendersonville Mayor and a Sales and Use Tax Rate Referendum in Gallatin. Thousands flocked to the polls to cast ballots early and on Election Day.

Tennesseans chose Donald Trump for President of the United States and supported Republicans in the U.S. House and Senate. View election results.

Also on the ballot are a number of local races and ballot initiatives that have resonance outside their region. Races for mayor in San Francisco and prosecutor in Los Angeles serve as referenda on progressive approaches to policing and crime,

Youngsville Police Chief has been voted on, and candidates Jean Paul "JP" Broussard (R) and Cody Louviere (R) will face off in a December run-off. Broussard received 46 percent of the votes, and Louviere received 40 percent.
