Tennessee promoted Josh Elander on Saturday to replace Tony Vitello as head coach of the baseball team. Vitello departed the Volunteers on Wednesday to become the manager of the San Francisco Giants.

Danny White moved quickly here to find Tennessee’s 26th ever head baseball coach. He reportedly interviewed Coastal Carolina coach Kevin Schnall on Friday, but not other names really emerged in the lightning-fast search. Elander was the guy who all players and former players clamored for, and White makes it happen today.

Tennessee announced Saturday morning that associate head coach Josh Elander would be elevated to head coach, replacing Tony Vitello who is taking over as the manager for the San Francisco Giants. Current and former Vols were quick to show their reaction to the news.
