The bench trial for the man accused of killing a nursing student on UGA's campus resumes Monday. Jose Ibarra faces multiple charges including malice murder in connection to the death of 22-year-old Laken Riley.

Friday morning, Jose Antonio Ibarra’s trial for the murder of Laken Riley in Athens is set to begin with opening statements, but the court setup will be different than most trials.

The trial for Jose Ibarra, the man accused of murdering nursing student Laken Riley on the University of Georgia campus, began on Friday morning. Channel 2′s Courtney Francisco was in the courtroom as prosecutors and Ibarra’s defense attorneys gave opening statements and started calling witnesses.
