Houston’s first cold front of the week will arrive by Monday afternoon, likely between 2 and 6 p.m. The front will bring elevated chances of showers and storms, some of which could be strong, capable of strong winds and hail. Most storms will stay below severe weather thresholds.

HOUSTON - Southeast Texas woke up to 50s and 60s with quiet skies, and forecast highs today remain in the upper-70s with passing clouds. Isolated showers are likely on Sunday ahead of our next cold front. This front will sweep across the region on Monday, bringing widespread rain and cooler air.

The showers from Sunday decrease into the overnight hours but more rain is expected Monday as a cold front moves into Houston during the afternoon. This front could have some gusty winds with a 1/5 risk for severe weather.

Here in Houston we finally have a big cold front coming in the middle of next week. This cold front will guarantee that any tropical systems will not come here to SE Texas. There is zero threat to Houston with this storm outside of elevated rip current risks and rough Gulf waters.

Scattered showers will continue today across southeast Texas. There could be some pockets of heavy rain and even the chance for isolated lightning strikes. Coverage decreases overnight tonight and we await the arrival of our next cold front.
