The opening day of the 2024 SEMA Show in Las Vegas was a hotbed of automotive excitement, and Toyota certainly did not disappoint with its GR86 Rally Legacy Concept. This isn’t just some shiny new paint job.

Toyota brought ten cool concept cars to SEMA 2024, but its GR86 Rally Legacy Concept stood out as one of the two sports cars that hit the show floor, the other being a GR Supra “Suprabird” honoring NASCAR legend Richard Petty.

What is perhaps more interesting is the mechanical package of the concept. Instead of the 2.0-liter flat-4 and rear-wheel drive of the stock GR86, Toyota has dropped in the turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-3 and all-wheel-drive system from the current GR Corolla hot hatch.

A couple years ago Toyota took over the showcase space in the Center Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center that was held by Ford for many years. And every year thereafter Toyota has made the most of it.
