Marvel's first family faltered in its sophomore weekend at the box office, recording a 66% dip in North American theaters.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps is set during the 1960s, unlike its predecessors, which were set during modern times and don't tell their origin stories. In addition to that, the film ( alongside Thunderbolts) has also set the stage for Avengers: Doomsday, which is set for a December 2026 release.

Elsewhere at the box office, “Superman” descended to fourth place with $13 million in its fourth weekend of release. The Warner Bros. and DC Studios adaptation has generated $316 million domestically and more than $502.7 million globally to date.
