It is common for law enforcement agencies to go on accident alert status during times of high call volume, such as during snow storms, when there is an increase in the number of crashes. The storm moved in as families were returning home after traveling for the Thanksgiving holiday.

Winter returned to Colorado’s high country over the weekend, especially in the southern and central mountains. The state’s snowpack is slowly rebounding as well, with the median average moved above 33%.

Confidence continues to increase that a winter storm will bring the first snow of the season to Denver and many areas across Colorado's Front Range soon.

National Weather Service forecasts are calling for up to 10 inches of snow in Colorado’s northern mountains between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 29, according to a winter weather advisory.

American standout Mikaela Shiffrin has dominated a World Cup slalom on home Colorado snow to remain perfect in the discipline during the Olympic season.

The first snow of the season finally came down in Denver weather, but the metro area for the most part saw less than an inch. Meanwhile, some mountain areas got a good dose of up to nearly a foot of much-needed snow.

Shiffrin extended her winning streak in slalom to four races after also claiming the opening two races this season and the final event of last season.
